Need to lose weight for surgery?

You'll Want to Read This First

Hello! I am excited about finally launching this blog after more than a decade of talking about how nutrition and lifestyle modifications can help reduce the risk for people needing surgery or suffering from type 2 diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure.

So many doctors, patients and friends were asking for this information. I am excited about what the future holds and hopeful for the impact that this information will have on the lives of so many people.

Reasons For Creating This Blog

My name is Dr. Jeremiah Fabry. I specialize in neurophysiology and have spent most of my career working with patients in the operating room. I create this content based on nutrition and lifestyle topics I believe should be taught to every person. These basic concepts, if properly applied, could curb your likelihood of suffering from many of the progressive and degenerative health issues including, but not exclusive to:

  • Obesity
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Arthritis (Degenerative and Autoimmune)
  • Skin Conditions
  • Hair Conditions
  • Stomach Issues (GERD, Chron’s, Celiac, Irritable Bowel, Ulcerative Colitis)
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Neurodegenerative Disorders (Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis)
  • Many forms of Cancer
  • Heart Disease

I understand that people struggle with losing weight and living healthy and I understand how much that struggle is intensified when facing surgery. There are a lot of hurdles to overcome to decrease unnecessary risk for complications. For example, if you are in pain and overweight then it can be difficult to walk to your car, let alone exercise. So I will spend time showing you how to lose weight and feel better in a way that is healthy, fun and lifelong.

What This Blog Isn’t

I can’t practice medicine over the internet. Please resist the urge to send me your blood work and personal health information. I encourage you to share your story, but please understand that I cannot really comment on your particular case without knowing you personally. If you read something here and you decide to make a change please let your doctor know so that the two of you can work together as a team towards your better health.

What This Blog Is

I am starting this blog for a couple of reasons. The first reason is totally selfish. It’s for me. It forces me to organize the information and to learn what is important. It will make me a better doctor, a better person, a better husband and father. The best way I learn is by doing. That’s how I found myself here in the first place. I’ve applied these principles to my own life in some way and have measured the results and outcomes to determine which I should pass on to you and which we all should pass on completely.

Secondly, and most importantly, I’m here to help you. The patients under my care know that I do everything I can to help them succeed. My goal is that they take the tools and knowledge I teach and pass it on to the people that they care about. This is about more than simply losing weight. It’s about helping people to become better people and making the world a better place to live in. Any advertising on my website is for things that I know will help you, because they have helped me to develop and maintain the habits that keep me healthy and happy.

Stimulating Constructive Conversations

If you email me or leave comments I will respond. My goal is to keep discussions constructive. With so much conflicting and controversial information floating about I expect for you to question everything. By all means, disagree with me, challenge me but please show respect to myself and other readers on this site. I will not respond to derogatory comments nor waste my time aimlessly arguing about trivial matters. There are people who are in desperate places and who desperately need what we freely share here.

In order to make the most of this blog, I will keep posts short and simple. I want you to be able to read it, process it and then put into action the things you learned immediately. Each post will cover a single topic regarding health, nutrition, exercise, cooking or lifestyle modification. Whether it’s myself or a guest posting I will be transparent with what is working for me, any resources I have been using and my successes and failures.

It’s All About YOU

This is all about you so be open-minded and critical. I’ll show you what worked for me and what didn’t, but you will need to become an expert on your own experience. Try new things and evaluate them based on the results that YOU obtain. Keep it simple. Measure the right things. Don’t be afraid to fail because even when you fail you learn one more thing about being healthy, having more energy and losing weight.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon.

Enjoy your day!
